Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto hosted an English Dharma lecture on November 30, featuring Venerable Jue Ji, Director of Fo Guang Shan Xiang Yun Temple in Austin, Texas. Invited by Venerable Chueh Fan, Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, following the Eight Precepts Retreat, Venerable Jue Ji presented a talk titled “The Perfection of Wisdom” to nearly 60 English-speaking participants, including youth and members of the BLIA Toronto English Subchapter.

Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto held its annual Eight Precepts Dharma Lecture on November 29, welcoming Venerable Jue Ji, Director of Fo Guang Shan Xiang Yun Temple in Austin, USA, to deliver a talk titled “The Twelve Great Vows of the Medicine Buddha — A Guide to Wisdom and Compassion in the Age of AI.” Nearly 200 participants attended the session, including 125 Eight Precepts practitioners, 18 youth from the Youth Temple Retreat, and members of BLIA Toronto.

Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto hosted two “Spring Festival Peace Lantern Painting” sessions on November 16 and 23, bringing together more than 200 participants to celebrate creativity, community, and hope. The event marked the 60th anniversary of Fo Guang Shan and paid tribute to the 100th birthday of its founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Students and families from the FGS Temple of Toronto Chinese School, the Buddha’s Light Children English Dharma Class, Srimala Buddhist College, as well as members of the 6th Meadowvale Scouts and the Dragon & Lion Dance Team, joined in painting lanterns filled with blessings for the world.

The Buddha’s Light Center in Waterloo, Canada, held its bi-monthly “Tea & Life” dialogue on November 22, focusing on how the Buddhist teaching of causes and conditions can support a positive approach to life. The session was led by Venerable Zhi Guan, Director of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, together with Stephanie Hong, Head of the FGS Toronto Spiritual Care Group. Twelve English-speaking participants from the local community attended.

On November 18, Trinity College at the University of Toronto hosted an interfaith symposium titled “Sustaining Hope and Seeking Justice in Challenging Times” at the historic Seeley Hall. Nearly 70 participants—including religious leaders, public-sector representatives, and academic scholars—gathered to explore how diverse faith communities understand and respond to the challenges of our time.

Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto held the second session of its “Heart-to-Heart” youth program on November 15, featuring a creative workshop on “Body Mapping and the Seven Identities.” The activity was facilitated by Oliver Wang, Deputy President of the Buddha’s Light Toronto Young Adult Division, together with member Alec Zhang, and welcomed twelve participating youths.
