On August 2, the solemn and auspicious Buddhist wedding of Jeanny Lin and Donny Lam was held in the Main Shrine of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto. In the sacred presence of the Buddha, the couple exchangedvows in a ceremony officiated and blessed by Abbess Venerable Chueh Fan, witnessed by nearly 110 family members, friends, and Buddha’s Light members.
Bathed in the compassionate light of the Triple Gem, the couple pledged to uphold their original aspirations, cherish and respect each other, and journey together on the path to Bodhi. In her Dharma talk, Abbess Venerable Chueh Fan reminded them that marriage is both the fruition of past good affinities and the beginning of a shared journey built on respect, tolerance, and compassion. Abbess encouraged them to cultivate mutual growth and create a harmonious and joyful family life.
The ceremony featured the solemn recitation ofthe Buddhist Wedding Prayer composed by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. The Abbess also shared the Master’s teaching on the Four Types of Husbands and Wives, inspiring the couple to strive toward becoming the highest kind of partners, those who progress and cultivate together in the Dharma.
The bride and groom’s dedication to volunteer service reflects the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism. Donny actively promotes theThree Acts of Goodness through Scouting and charitable activities, guiding youth to care for others and contribute to society. Jeanny, as a Chinese School teacher, fosters filial piety and encourages students to live out the Three Acts of Goodness at home and in school. The groom’s mother, a participant in the temple’s Senior Activity Program, further enriches the family’s Dharma connection.
Jeanny expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents for their love and guidance, and to Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and the groom’s family for enabling this important milestone to be witnessed before the Buddha. Donny also extended thanks to the monastics and volunteers for their thoughtful preparations.
Following the ceremony, guests took commemorative photos with the newlyweds and enjoyed a celebratory vegetarian feast. The day concluded with blessings, joy, and warm wishes for the couple’s lifelong happiness, harmony, and shared cultivation in the Dharma.
