Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto held a Pink Ladies Guest Administrator Training on August 10, following the 2025 BLIA North American Guest Administrator Training Seminar in June. Guided by Venerable Ru Zhong, twenty-one receptionists participated in a two-hour program combining review, demonstration, and hands-on practice.
Venerable Ru Zhong expressed gratitude to participants for attending inuniform attire despite their busy schedules, noting that this reflected their commitment to presenting their best selves. She emphasized that demonstrating poise and grace as receptionists not only fosters joy and positive affinities during service but also represents ongoing personal cultivation. She further encouraged continuous training as a means for participants to learn from and inspire one another.
The session highlighted etiquette essentials, including proper standing, sitting, walking, and tea service. Participants carefully studied a teaching video recorded in Toronto by instructors from Taiwan before practicing together. They observed one another, exchanged feedback, and refined their skills in a spirit of humility and encouragement.
As the temple frequently receives visitors and dignitaries, tea service was emphasized as a key aspect of hospitality. Receptionists practiced tray handling, presenting and collecting cups, and serving tea from different positions in the conference room, followed by exercises in the reception roomto simulate real environments.
Team leader Sue Hutchison noted that while previous instruction provided valuable foundations, true mastery depends on consistent practice. She stressed that etiquette must become second nature so that grace and compassion are expressed naturally.
With dedication and teamwork, the training enhanced both technical ability and personal character, reaffirming Fo Guang Shan Toronto’s commitment to cultivating volunteers who embody dignity, kindness, and professionalism.
