Be the Reason Why Everyone has Access to Healthy Food – Donations to the Food Bank

October 24, 2021

Local food banks running low on goods as demand remains high. Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and BLIA Toronto Chapter upholding the objective of “Benefiting society through charity,” responded to Mississauga Mayor, Bonnie Crombie’s call to the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Together, the temple and BLIA have donated a total of 1553 pounds of food and raised CAD 5,022 towards the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

The Food Drive took place from October 6 to October 20. The Buddha’s Light Scout and BLIA sub-chapter members took turns sorting the food dropped in the donation boxes. In addition, a funding page specially made for FGS and BLIA Toronto was set up by the Food Bank. Members can make a monetary donation to show their support to the community.

On October 9, Venerable Miao Mu, the Superintendent of the temple led volunteers to join the Mississauga Food Bank Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Food Drive.
