Taking the opportunity of Venerable Chueh Fan, Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, attending the 2025 Fo Guang Shan University Presidents Forum, Fo Guang University (FGU) hosted a special gathering on November 3 at the Million-People Education Memorial Hall.

The meeting was organized by Venerable Miao-Yang, Chief Accountant of FGU, and Assistant Professor Yu-Lin Chang from the Department of Communications, who invited Venerable Chueh Fan to meet with former and upcoming overseas interns bound for Fo Guang Shan Toronto and FoGuang Shan Berlin. Venerable Chueh Fan noted that since its founding in 1991, Fo Guang Shan Toronto has evolved into a multilingual and multicultural Buddhist center, reflecting Canada’s diverse society and offering students an invaluable environment for cross-cultural learning. She encouraged each student to bring forth their creativity and professional training, integrating their academic expertise with Humanistic Buddhist values tocultivate both compassion and global vision.

Other interns from the Media Production and Communications programs introduced the bilingual Fo Guang Shan Toronto 2025 AnnualPublication, which documents the temple’s achievements under Fo Guang Shan’s Four Objectives and the students’ internship contributions—becoming a meaningful record of shared learning between FGS Toronto and FGU.

The gathering coincided with visits from Most Venerable Hsin Bao, Abbot of Fo Guang Shan, and Dr. Chao-Hsiang Yang, Chancellor of the Fo Guang Shan University System, who both commended the students’ dedication and encouraged continued participation in overseas internship programs.
