Canada’s Prime Minister Affirms Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Remarkable Contributions

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offer his sincerest condolences to the FGS Temple of Toronto (dated Feb 21 2022) on the passing of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, founder of the Fo Guang Shan Monastery and Buddha’s Light International Association. In the letter, Prime Minister Trudeau expressed his profound sadness at the passing of the founder of FGS and BLIA.

The letter stipulated that “Venerable Master Hsing Yun united people around the globe with his Buddhist teachings, leaving an indelible mark on countless individuals. I was sorry to learn of his passing, and I hope you are all able to find strength and comfort in this trying time. Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s remarkable contributions to Buddhism which span decades will not be forgotten. I hope that the comfort and support of your community will help ease the pain of this loss in the days ahead. Know that my thoughts and sympathies are with you all.”

On February 15 th , 2018, Prime Minister Trudeau visited FGS Temple of Toronto to celebrate Chinese New Year with BLIA members as well as participated in the “Prayers for World Peace”. He praises and recognizes the effort of FGS and BLIA in cultural, educational, charity and other activities in the community.
