The 9th Advisor Committee Election of the Buddha's Light International Association Toronto Chapter was held at the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto on November 8th, 2023. The event was presided by Venerable Chueh Fan, the Monastic Advisor of the Toronto Chapter, President Mabel Lam, and Deputy Directors of the committee, Candy Huang and Winnie Kwong. 

The Toronto chapter's Advisor Committee consists of 32 members. Among them, 29 members used online voting. Winnie Kwong was elected as the 9th Director of the Advisor Committee, with Kim Chan and John Lu as Deputy Directors. 

Ms Kwong, in accepting the role, expressed her commitment to work with the two Deputy Directors and all members to serve Buddhism and the public, striving to promote Humanistic Buddhism. 

Venerable Chueh Fan urged all members of the Advisor Committee to consider planning simple and relaxing events for coping with the stress of busy lives by bringing Humanistic Buddhism into communities and members' homes. Venerable Chueh Fan also emphasized the responsibilities outlined in the “Advisor Committee Handbook” and encouraged advisors to communicate more with subchapter presidents and members when collectively working on the planning of subchapter events. 

All attending Advisor Committee members voted in favor, agreeing to fully promote Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s book “365 Days For Travelers” to propagate Humanistic Buddhism and bring peace to people’s minds. Additionally, plans were made to donate books to hotels.
