On the morning of May 21st, Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto held the 2023 Celebration of the Buddha’s Birthday & Singing Praises for Venerable Master Hsing Yun. More than 1000 people participated in the joyous occasion to bathe the baby Buddha in celebration of the Buddha’s birthday. The celebration began with 72 representatives from different BLIA subchapters, including Vajra, Radiance, BLIA executives, young adults from YAD, children from Chinese School and Dharma Class, teens from the 6^th Meadowvale Scout, and Dragon & Lion Dance Team, to make offerings to the Buddha. Right after the Dharma service, attendees enjoyed the performance by the Buddha's Light Choir in honour and memory of the compassionate Venerable Master. The Choir's performance included piano recitals, ocarina performances, songs from the Sounds of Human World, and poetry recitations. The beautiful songs touched the hearts of the audience.

During her Dharma talk, Venerable Chueh Fan explained that the teachings of the Buddha can serve as a form of daily medicine for our lives. Venerable Master Hsing Yun has given us the gifts of the “Three Acts of Goodness” and “Four Givings”  to help us cultivate our body, speech, and mind. By practicing the three acts of goodness and giving confidence, joy, hope, and convenience to others, we also benefit from the good acts and givings. She encouraged everyone to seize this opportunity of Buddha's birthday and make a pledge to support the localization of Buddhism.

At the gathering, Venerable Chueh Fan also represented the BLIA World Headquarters to present the certificate of appointment of BLIA Lay Dharma Speaker to Mr Hu Chen
