The press conference for the upcoming 2025 Toronto Interfaith Blessing Ceremony and Buddha’s Light Food Fair was held on June 3 at the Fo Guang Shan Buddha’s Light Centre in Markham. Co-hosted by Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Toronto Chapter, the event welcomed representatives from over ten Canadian media outlets spanning television, print, radio, and digital platforms.

On Sunday, June 1, the 6th Meadowvale Scout Group (Buddha’s Light Toronto Scout) held a successful car wash fundraiser in the parking lot of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto. Despite chilly spring temperatures hovering around 10°C and intermittent rain, 18 dedicated Venture Scouts, Scouts, and leaders braved the weather with warmth and determination. The event aimed to raise funds for upcoming summer camping activities while embodying the Humanistic Buddhist principles of the Three Acts of Goodness.

As spring brings renewal and growth, members of the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Toronto Chapter embraced the season by combining environmental awareness with spiritual cultivation. On May 31, the Scarborough First and Second Subchapters co-hosted a “Gardening and Environmental Protection Life Talk” at the Buddha’s Light Center in Markham. The event welcomed over 66 attendees, including Monastic Advisor Venerable Ru An, Subchapter Presidents Holly Cheng and Kam Wong, BLIA Lay Dharma Teacher Winnie Kwong, and members of the local community.

On May 31, 2025, the English Subchapter of the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Toronto Chapter hosted its first life talk at Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto. Titled “Humanistic Parenting: A Humanistic Buddhist Approach to Early Childhood Education,” the event was led by Subchapter President Tyrie Norris and featured keynote speaker Patrick Mahoney, a veteran registered nurse and BLIA member. More than 20 attendees joined the seminar, which explored how the principles of Humanistic Buddhism can guide early childhood development and family education.

The dragon and lion dance is more than just a lively performance, it is a vibrant expression of Chinese culture and heritage. On May 30, over 40 members of the Fo Guang Toronto Dragon and Lion Dance Team, led by instructor Tom Ly, performed at the Culture Centre of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Toronto.

On May 28, members of the First, Second, and Third Subchapters of the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Toronto Chapter in Richmond Hill jointly launched the “Spring Action for Food Bank” initiative. This charitable effort saw BLIA members volunteer at the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank, where they helped sort and package donated goods to support local families in need.
