The Avatamsaka Sutra stated that "Of all offerings, the offering of Dharma is the highest." The Dharma, the teachings of the Buddha, is an important set of teachings because it helps individuals answer questions on life and death, and how to live this life on earth without being afflicted with sufferings. The Dharma teaches universal truth.
Given that the Dharma is difficult to understand, Buddha has adopted innovative methods of instruction.
Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan, evocating the same education ideals through humanistic Buddhism. He emphasizes education as a means to develop society, and to transmit the Dharma in practical form.
