Temple Tour

Since the completion of Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple in 1997, we have received numerous groups of visitors including students, community organizations, local & overseas tourists. We take pride in extending our hospitality to all visitors and believe that the temple has been able to acquit itself as an effective medium in the understanding of Buddhism and the promotion of cultural exchange between the East and the West.

Please note that the temple opens from 9:00am - 5:00pm, Tuesday through Sunday and closes on Monday. To facilitate the planning of your visit to our temple, the following is some information for your reference and convenience. On Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. a vegetarian lunch may be provided during your personal visit. Please get your lunch coupons at the receptionist with a suggested donation of $5 per person.

Please note that tours can only be arranged for weekdays due to our busy weekend schedules. Advance booking is recommended if you are coming as a group of more than 10 people or you require a tour guide during your visit to the temple; this is to assist us in assigning tour guide/guides for your group.

Please show respect to the Temple and dress appropriately: no tank tops, slippers, shorts or mini skirts. Smoking is prohibited on premises. Please DO NOT bring meat of any kind, food or beverages into the temple.

Groups
We are more than happy to cater to larger groups and only ask that you call ahead to book an appointment for a tour. A guide will meet you at the front doors of the temple on the day of your visit and take you on a memorable in-depth tour. PLEASE contact the Tour Division to schedule tour dates Guided tours are available for groups of about 15 or more. Tour Hours: Between 9:30a.m. To 12:00 noon everyday except Monday. Please show respect to the Temple and dress appropriately: no tank tops, shorts or mini skirts. Smoking and chewing gums are prohibited on premises.
